The Foundation donates to Chiltern Music Therapy

The Audley Foundation recently sent a donation to Chiltern Music Therapy, the chosen charity of the Audley Chalfont Dene owners.

They shared this fantastic image with us of the Silver Singers which is a community singing group for all older adults, including those with age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s or Dementia. The group aims to connect people through music and singing and improve the lives of those socially isolated in the community.

Chiltern Music Therapy provides Music Therapy, Neurologic Music Therapy and Community Music services, they strive for a caring world where music therapy is the transformative thread in everyday life.

The team shared with us how our donation directly helps their organisation –

One of the members of Silver Singers, John*, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years ago. John’s wife recently discovered Silver Singers and they have both been joining the weekly group. Our community musician Eleanor (who runs the sessions) said “It’s just wonderful to see how John sings and laughs during our sessions and connects with his wife through singing.” Up until John’s diagnosis, he had been performing regularly in a band – playing a few different instruments and singing lead vocals. In a recent session, they listened to some of his songs – his face lit up and began to sing along, and also managed to play 3 chords on a guitar – he was so proud and said “That was so nice!”
