The Foundation are delighted that the third Chatty Bench, funded by the fundraising efforts of the owners and teams at Audley Villages & Mayfield Villages has now been installed.
The bench located in Whitworth Park, Darley Dene is situated close to Audley St Elphins Park and has already been well received.
Whilst owners at Audley St Elphins have enjoyed the company of others, local residents have also benefitted. Christine and Alan, along with their two grandsons who volunteer to keep the area tidy and pruned, witnessed Toby the Dog and his human friends appreciating the comfortable bench.
The purpose of the Chatty Benches is to make small steps towards easing the massive problem of social isolation, and loneliness.
Each bench is carefully positioned in an area attracting frequent footfall; each bears the Audley logo and the invitation to “rest awhile for conversation and good company” as well as the charity’s mission statement to “make a lasting difference to the lives of older people”.
Mark Sadler, Trustee for the Foundation and General Counsel for Audley Group says: “These small interactions will be the highlights of so many peoples’ days, every day, for years to come. Well done everyone – brilliant stuff!”
